DANCE AND CULTURAL TOURS TO ROMANIA 2007
The prices include:
- Transfer from Bucharest to final destination and return.
- Half boarding (breakfast and lunch of dinner, depending on daily
programme) in a double or triple bedroom with bath/shower and toilet
(supplement for a single room – spring tour EUR 85.-, autumn tour EUR 150.-).
- Dancing-lessons from Romanian dancing-teachers accompanied by live music.
- Excursions by touring-car. Participation in a variety of activities such
as: meeting and dancing with dance ensembles, visiting museums, participating
in village festivities, etc.
- Free entrance to the museums and exhibitions named in the programme.
Accompaniment by Silviu Ciuciumiş and an English speaking guide/interpreter.
Not included:
- Return-flight to Bucharest, airport and security taxes.
With regard to the big interest in these tours and the advantageous
flight tickets on early booking, we advise you to register as soon as
possible.

TOUR TO CLUJ, 28 April – 5 May 2007
Saturday 28 April
- Flight to Henri Coandă (former Otopeni), Bucharest. In Bucharest a.o. old
city centre, palace of Ceauşescu, open-air museum, palace Mogoşoaia. Transfer
by night-train to Cluj (sleeping compartments – 2 persons), dep. 22.45 h
Sunday 29 April
- Arrival in Cluj (06.40 h). Dancing-lessons*
- Excursion in the village of Frata: village church, traditional houses,
farmers’ ensemble** with the best pontăuşi of Frata and Mociu (dance,
songs, customs), traditional music group Gaciu and orchestra
Stângaciu. Party together
Monday 30 April
- Dancing-lessons. In Cluj viewing of the old city centre: buildings from
the 15th century, gothic style: St Michael’s church, equestrian statue and
house of Matei Corvin, tailors’ bastion (part of the defense wall), Franciscan
convent, Reformed church. Also: town hall, national theater, university of
Babeş-Boliay, synagogue
- Excursion by boat on the lake in the park
- Meeting with ensemble Cununa Transilvaniei. Performance and
dance-party together
Tuesday 1 May
- Leisure time
- Dancing-lessons. Visit to the open-air museum of Transsylvania
- Visit to the public art school and children’s centre (songs, paintings,
wood carving, dancing, etc.). Performance by children’s group Doina, dancing
together
- Visit to the ethnographic museum in the Reduta-palace
Wednesday 2 May
- Dancing-lessons. Excursion through the fabulous Gilău-mountains (1000-1826
m). Visit to the castles of Gilău and Huedin (17th century). In the village of
Calata: stalls of various artisans. In the village of Beliş: park near the
spa, boat trip on the Fântânele-lake (1100 m), waterfall Voalul miresii
(bridal veil) in the village of Răchiţele. In the village of Mărişel (1350 m):
old traditional houses, mini-ethnographic museum, folklore group with
Şezătoarea and Junii (winter customs)
Thursday 3 May
- Dancing-lessons. Visit to the convent of Nicula with a collection of icons
on glass from all Romania
- In the village of Ceaba: old church (17th century), old traditional
houses, palincă-brewery (tasting), and meeting with the local elderly
dance-group, a traditional orchestra and performers of old songs under the
guidance of Iosif Ghermant and Emil Mihai (trumpet-violin). Performance, dance
an party
- Farewell party in Cluj with the ensemble Traditii
Friday 4 May
- Dancing-lessons, dance notation and video-recording
- Old style music group and performer of old songs Vasile Soporan.

- Arrival in Bucharest 07.20 h. Places of interest in Bucharest: Cişmigiu-park,

* Spring-tour: dancing-lessons by Ioan Motoc with dances from Transsylvania.
The lessons include dances from the villages we visit.

TOUR TO CURTEA DE ARGEŞ, 15 - 25 September 2007
Saturday 15th September
- Flight to Henri Coandă (former Otopeni), Bucharest. Transfer by
touring-car to Curtea de Argeş, 150 km
Sunday 16th September
- Excursion to the valley of Rîul Doamnei:
- Visit to the workshop of a potter in the village of Costeşti
- Performance by the shepherds’ ensemble from the village of Corbi**, o.a.
dancers and flute-players
- Visit to a sheep-fold, shepherd's meal and party together
Monday 17th September
- Dancing-lessons* assisted by dancers of the ensemble Argeşul
- Performance by ensemble Argeşul, dancing and singing together
Tuesday 18th September
- Dancing-lessons
- Visit to the places of interest in Curtea de Argeş, a.o. the Royal Court:
the first great feudal monument erected in Wallachia, well preserved, contains
the royal church with highly valuable frescoes (1352) and the cellars of the
royal residence (1340)
Wednesday 19th September
- Dancing-lessons. Visit to the workshop of flute-maker T. Cioculescu, mini
performance by his students
- Excursion to the village of Goleşti:
- Visit to the houses of grand boyars from the Goleşti-family (1640) and to
the church (1646) with the tombs of Golescus. Exhibition of folk art. Visit to
the open-air museum of vineyards and orchards
- Visit to the Turkish Baths (1780), the only bath of its kind in this country
entirely preserved
Thursday 20st September
- Dancing-lessons and leisure time
- Visit to the Church of the Curtea de Argeş Monastery (1517). World-famous
for its remarkable spirally carved towers and brightly coloured paintings.
Manole’s Fountain (1804) in memory of the legendary builder of the monastery.

Friday 21st September
- Excursion to the city of Piteşti with a.o. daily market place. The
Domnească Church (16th century). The Argeş County Museum in the former
prefecture (1896). Trivale Parc: Trivale Hermitage (17-19th cent.)
- Performance from ensemble Dorul, party together
Saturday 22th September
- Dansing-lessons
- Excursion to the village of Arefu:
- Meeting with folklore group Muntişorul - four generations of dancers
and musicians, who a.o. play on fish scales. Performance and dance party
together
- Visit to the fortress Poienari (14th century) of emperor Vlad Ţepeş (Vlad
the Impaler, alias Dracula)
- Picnic near the bank of the Vidraru lake, underwater-village, boats
Sunday 23th September
- Dancing-lessons. Visit to the workshop of wood-carver Dan Gherasimescu
- Excursion to the village of Priboieni: old traditional houses,
mini-ethnographic museum, folklore group Ciuleandra of different generations
dancers and singers. Performance, traditional meal together
Monday 24th September
- Dancing-lessons and special opportunity for dance notation and
video-recording
- Farewell party together with the ensemble Argeşul
Tuesday 25th September
- Transfer bij touring-car to Bucharest. In Bucharest a.o. old city centre,
palace of Ceauşescu, open-air museum, palace Mogoşoaia. Flight from Henri
Coandă (former Otopeni), Bucharest
Autumn-tour: dancing lessons from Dorin Oancea with dances from Muntenia.
The lessons include dances from the villages we visit.
