The house where Constantin Brâcuşi (note: pronounced Brunkush) was born in 1876 in the village of Hobiţa is preserved as a museum house.
Brâcuşi ran away from home aged 9 to live in Târgu Jiu. He moved to Paris in 1904 and became Romania's most famous sculptor. He died in 1957.
