Just north of Târgu Jiu, at Curtişoara, Gorj an open air museum is situated in the grounds of an 18th cenury Culas (18C fortified house). It is difficult to find unless you have a large scale Road Atlas. Take the Petroşani road northwards out of Târgu Jiu, and turn right up the first road signposted to Bumbeşti Jiu or Novaci
