Following their invasion in 2nd century AD the Roman's built a settlement on the route into Transylvania with the same name as the Dacian capital which was deep in the mountains. Some of the Roman town has been excavated and is open to the public: an oval amphitheatre, forum and palace. More ruins are visible along the village tracks.
