Traditional wooden gate at Bogdan Voda. This type of gateway is found throughout the Romanians in the Carpathians, and also among the Szekely in the Eastern Carpathians. Those found in Maramureş are substantial in size and very costly to have made, hence have great strategic importance to the household.
