A rectangular strip is embroidered in red across the top of the shoulder (altiţă), with a narrow white strip below this (încreţ), and diagonal stripes (râuri) in red on the front and sleeves, and isolated small red motifs on the back.
Underskirt (poale) with a row of co-ordinating red embroidery on hem.
Gathered wrap round skirt (vâlnic or zavelca), also called “crăt” made of red linen material woven with narrow rows of silver thread. It is decorated with geometric motifs sewn in wide silver tinsel (beteală) on the lower third of the skirt. These motifs are sewn onto the material using a special technique, the arrangement of the motifs representing the ‘hora’ i.e. a line of people dancing. The lower edge of the fabric is edged with a row of braid made of gold sequins.
